ECO4

Helping You Save Energy and Money

The ECO4 scheme (Energy Company Obligation phase 4) is a government-backed initiative designed to make homes across the UK more energy efficient — reducing energy bills and carbon emissions. At Lee Wright Plumbing and Heating LTD, we’re proud to be accredited installers offering ECO4-funded improvements to eligible households.

  • ECO4 stands for the Energy Company Obligation phase 4, the latest stage of a UK government-backed scheme aimed at tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon emissions. Running from 2022 until March 2026, ECO4 requires major energy suppliers to fund energy efficiency improvements in homes across England, Scotland and Wales.

This means many homeowners and tenants could receive upgrades at no cost or heavily subsidised, depending on eligibility.

  • The ECO4 scheme funds a wide range of improvements to make homes warmer and more energy-efficient, including:
    • Boiler replacements & upgrades (for old, inefficient, or broken boilers)
    • First-time central heating systems
    • Internal wall insulation (IWI) & external wall insulation (EWI)
    • Cavity wall insulation
    • Loft, attic & roof insulation
    • Underfloor insulation
    • Smart heating controls & thermostats
    • Room-in-roof insulation
All work must be installed by PAS 2030 accredited installers, like us, to ensure quality and compliance with government standards.
    • Reduce your energy bills: By improving how your home retains heat, you’ll use less energy and spend less on heating.
    • Make your home more comfortable: No more draughts, cold spots, or struggling to stay warm in winter.
    • Increase your property value: A higher EPC rating can make your home more attractive to buyers and tenants.
    • Help the environment: Lower energy use means fewer carbon emissions, supporting the UK’s net-zero goals.
  • The scheme is primarily aimed at helping:
    • Households with low income or in receipt of qualifying benefits, such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Housing Benefit, Tax Credits, and others.
    • Homes with a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, typically E, F or G, although improvements are also offered for D-rated properties in some circumstances.
    • Vulnerable households, including elderly residents, families with young children, or people with certain health conditions impacted by cold homes.
Even if you’re not sure you qualify, it’s worth getting in touch — there are alternative routes through local authority flexibility (LA Flex) schemes which we also offer
